Do you guys believe in Good vs. Evil? Do you think that there are such definitions that we can apply to people? In the show Heroes, there are people with special abilities split between different sides. And although some act in ways we would consider good or evil, none of them are ever totally one or the other. It all depends on the choices they make that leads them in different directions. You could call most of the characters morally gray. So do we live in a morally gray world, or one of absolutes? Can one side ever win? If good attempts to kill evil, isn't that going against everything it stands for? So what do you guys think, does good and evil even exist in the first place?

We have all seen that the Presidential campaign has pretty much taken over our nation's media. If any of you have watched the debates you know they can get pretty heated and such. I wanted to talk about framing. If you noticed in the last of the debates, when on the topic of abortion, John McCain repeatedly used the phrase, pro-abortion instead of pro-choice. By doing so, he framed the issue. While Barack Obama's stance is pro-choice, which leaves the decision to the mother and by no means relishes in the usage of abortions, John McCain made it seem as such simply by changing his words. Conservatives have become immensely talented at the usage of framing, which has helped lead to their dominance in government for the majority of the last 8 years. Framing is used in many other contexts too, anyone skilled enough can use it to their advantage. How do you guys think we should look at framing? Should we believe the way they say that it is or should we realize that they are most likely changing words around to make us believe what they want us to believe?

Most of the readings this week have to do with Descartes and his theories. What do you think of what he had to say? Should we re-examine all of our beliefs? If we are comfortable and happy with what we believe, but doubt arises about it's truthfulness in reality, should we stay content and ignore the truth, or search for meaning and leave our comfort zone? Have any of you already re-examined what you believe, and if so how did you and what did you do after?

With all the talk about the influence of the media and propaganda I wanted to see what you all thought about the topic. Has society's advance into the Information Age actually led to a more ignorant public? Although technology is at an all time high, it seems like basic knowledge of civics and constitutional rights are at an all time low. Are we headed down the path that was tread in novels such as "A Brave New World" and "1984?" Or are we not so far gone yet? What do you guys think?

Yo it's Grant. Just thinking about a good question or comment that might be able to start some discussion on my blog for GPHIL. Lately I've been thinking a lot about life after death, what it would be like if it's real. You guys have any comments or views? Do you think it's like what universal religions have taught, or maybe something different? Does everyone retain their personality or would everyone be resolved into a single universal conscious state? Is it one paradise, or is it different for everyone, depending on their mind's own views of paradise? What do you all think?
