Yo it's Grant. Just thinking about a good question or comment that might be able to start some discussion on my blog for GPHIL. Lately I've been thinking a lot about life after death, what it would be like if it's real. You guys have any comments or views? Do you think it's like what universal religions have taught, or maybe something different? Does everyone retain their personality or would everyone be resolved into a single universal conscious state? Is it one paradise, or is it different for everyone, depending on their mind's own views of paradise? What do you all think?

Truthfully, I haven't thought that much about life after death. Um I don't think that it is one big party and paradise. I think that you still have responsibilites. Oh one thing that I have always thought is that it is the one place to find your true soul mate. Like if you never married your true love or got divorced a lot, after death you would be reunited with them.
Personally, I don't think their is anything after death. This is the only chance you get, so do it right. But if pressed, here would be my answer...
Life after death wouldn't be like anything we humans can think up, because our minds possibly would not be able to comprehend it. It is a place only for your mind and soul (if either one truly exists), because our bodies have gone and died.
People with like minds tend to seek each other out. That's what friends are: people of like minds that find common ground. But they come closer, almost merging together into one giant consciousness.
But then again, I'm letting my imagination run off again, so once again, I'm not sure.
Honestly I think about life after death alot. I'm a Christian and I'm not being bias or anything but I do believe in life after death and the concept of heaven and hell. In heaven I do believe it's going to totally different than the state of being we are in, stress free and the glory of God will rein throughout the entire place. I actually agree with Timothy that is something that we can't truly comprehend because that's just how promising it's going to be for God's people and those who wish to know him. However my mind does wonder sometimes and I think about those who don't believe in the same things and the fact of whether everyone will enter into that place of paradise that their faith believes in(not to put down my own)but I do know God has given me free will to ask all the questions I want. I've actually been praying alot about it because I would be saddened for those of other religions to perish because one religion has proven to be right about life after death. Good question though I like it.
I would have to admit this is something I also think about alot. I do not feel as if I've come any closer to a real answer. I think that in this life you can have as much faith as you want, but no one has a true definitive answer. Yet I do believe that faith and hope are good things, possibly the most significant things a human being can know. Through out my time as a young adult, I have subscribed to Buddhism and eastern philosophy most. I think of life after death more as becoming part of an energy field that makes up everything. You still retain your soul but become a part of everything as well all are already just somewhat oblivious to.
That's a really good question. I read a book called The Lovely Bones, and in it the author's view of Heaven was really unique. It changed how I had traditionally seen Heaven. In the book, Heaven is not just one place in the clouds where everyone goes. Everyone has their own personal Heaven, the place that they love the most. Also, the people in Heaven had to choose whether they wanted to be linked to the Earth or not. If they did, they could not have the full version of Heaven and see everyone in it, because they were still watching what was going on on Earth. You;d have to read the book, its very interesting. I think I may believe in both of those concepts for life after death,
While I do not believe in life after death, I do think that if it does exist, there is only one reality. So many religions that are popular today conflict with one another so much that I see no hope they can all be true. Right now I am more content to live my life to the fullest every day, because I never know which might be my last. If when I die I find out I was wrong the whole time, hopefully I can find mercy for non-believers.
I think that there is life after death. I'm not sure exactly what it is going to be like but I feel that it is going to be a place that is a good and happy one( for most) and that we will be free from all the torments of human life and be free to "live" in a place that is what we want it to be. It is also a place where we get to be with the loved ones we have lost and to me that is the best part about it.
